Samsung Tv Auto Tune Air Or Cable
Sep 26, 2012 Having just moved into a new apartment which has a TV aerial-out socket near the wall, i've tried to connect this via a standard cable to the telly's aerial-in socket. I've then changed the Input source on the tv from HDMI to Antenna, and tried to autotune for channels. Nothing at all shows up at all, though. Aug 20, 2018 This video shows you how to re-tune a Samsung TV using the auto-tune function. The method shown is for tuning in TV aerial signals for Freeview but the same technqiue can be used for tuning in. May 05, 2012 Additionally, most TVs have the option to scan air, cable, or both at once. “Advanced HDTV tuners, such as the 232-ATSC+1 and HD TV sets can tune in both kinds of channels, and analog channels as well. Only a few tuners, such as the 232-ATSC+1, can accept both at the same time from a separate Air and Cable feeds.”.
I disconnected my Skybox and plugged the cables from the Sky dish into my Samsung TV and tried to tune in Freesat but am not getting any channels. Like I said, Sky works fine so it is not a dish / cable issue.
The Samsung TV is model UE46F7000ST. It supports Freesat and tuning in Freesat is one of the options (along with normal satellite, aerial, cable).
Again - freesat is built in (it is an option when I go to tune).
Any ideas why this is not working? Many thanks!

If it does, select 'Air' This will tell your TV you're looking for antenna channels. You can also find more instructions for your specific TV. Jun 19, 2016 I have an HD over the air antenna going into my Samsung TV. However, the antenna as well as the Plug in Play menu is grayed out and can't be selected.
Dev-C for Mac has not been released by Orwell so far, so you can't use it if you switch to Mac. However, there are many C/C compilers that can easily replace all functions of Dev-C for Mac. With the help of this list of alternatives, you can find similar software to develop applications with C/C programming language. Dev c++ para mac.

Samsung Cable Tv Box
- #2I turned off Sky yesterday - all was working fine - just wanted to save some money.

Check the f connectors weren't loosened when you swapped them over (screwed them firmly onto the coax). Can you access the manual tune option ? If so check you have a signal from the freesat home transponder
11425.00 H DVB-S QPSK 27500 2/3 Note the frequency may not be shown as exactly 11425.
Next check
11426.00 V DVB-S QPSK 27500 5/6 - #3Another connector issue I've seen if you are a bit ham fisted with the F-Types is bending the inner pin up into the body of the plug rather than it going into the hole in the socket on the TV.
Can an LNB be damaged if you connect and disconnect with the Sky box or TV powered up at the time? - #4I turned off Sky yesterday - all was working fine - just wanted to save some money.

You could have left the skybox connected, and the card would have switched to FSFS mode, since you cancelled your subscription - #5It will still cost X amount a year to run a sky box even in FSFS mode, not even recording, fyi.
- #6Some TV's default to the first method of FTA channels you chose so if you chose FREEVIEW it might be trying to tune into FREEVIEW Channel's .
Have you made sure you're tuning a FREESAT tuner on the TV? - #7With both satellite cables connected to the back of the TV, go to Menu, Broadcasting, Auto Tune and it should prompt you with a Postcode and then it will tune in Freesat
Failing that do a system reset - Menu, Support.. http://www.samsung.com/ie/support/skp/faq/1051919 - #8Indeed, where X is the cost of electricity, nothing more.
True, but a Sky box, unless put into full standby (only possible on HD boxes, holding standby button until light goes red instead of amber), only shuts down its video outputs when you shut it off.
The receiver stays active to receive the 'keep alive' signal for the viewing card and other updates, whereas a Freesat receiver shuts down to a very minimal power consumption (basically just the IR receiver and timer) when shut down.
There could be a quite noticeable difference in the amount of power used over 12 months. - #9True, but a Sky box, unless put into full standby (only possible on HD boxes, holding standby button until light goes red instead of amber), only shuts down its video outputs when you shut it off.

About £20.00 or so depending on tariff. - #10Sorry - been traveling for work and will check these today.
I did have a very hard time in getting the connectors on and was really surprised at that. So will look at that. I will also try the manual tuning trick to see if I can get a base signal.
The TV specifically asked for my post code and as I mentioned, said FREESAT when I did the tuning. For grins, I used a normal Ariel and tuned in some FREEVIEW channels just to see if that worked.
I know I could have left the Sky box in but did not see the point? It was one less box in the area (I also have an HTPC, router, PI, ..) so figured why not go directly to the TV as it should work. - #11OK - all sorted. My connectors must not have been seated properly. They were not bent but they must not have been screwed in as tightly as they could have been. Feel like a numpty. :-)
Thanks for all the help and happy 2017! - #12Sorry - been traveling for work and will check these today.

Makes sense to me, why use extra electricity if you can't record anything. Also the epg will have loads of channels you can't watch. Doesn't your TV allow recording to a usb drive, most modern smart TV's do ?
Failure at the postcode validation stage is what you will get if the freesat home transponder is not receivable. The postcode database needs to be downloaded from the home transponder. If the connections are OK and you can't get the Horizontally polarised home transponder but can get the Vertically polarised one with much the same frequency, the lnb skew may need tweaking.
EDIT OP posted solution while I was typing
